PERSONAL DECLARATION:
I wish to protest the use of my tax money to support, in Alberta and on the federal level, the legalized killing known as abortion. I wish to have it known that, in spite of my protest, I am FORCED to participate through my taxes in the taking of innocent human life. I would like this statement to be permanently filed with my tax records to show that this involvement is involuntary and against the dictates of my conscience.

September 15, 2002 MaterCare needs our help!  See the e-mail letters below for information on how our Canadian government is preventing MaterCare from doing its much-needed work.

I'm assuming that you are as interested as I about an e-mail from a second secretary at the
Vatican regarding MaterCare.  We can get discouraged sometimes and something like this
means a lot to me.
The refusal to fund from the Canadian government (CIDA) has been devastating for
MaterCare.  Rent/phone and salaries are not being paid and we all know what can be the
result;  it appears as though the evil in this world is winning at the present time.  We have had
confirmation from two different sources that we were not funded as our cause is too pro-life
and Dr Walley's connection with the Vatican too close.  Now ain't that something for a country
like Canada?  Anything you can do would be grateful whether that help is in the form of
cheques, passing on information, contacting MaterCare to book a speaker (if possible as travel
funds are almost non-existant but we will try) and most importantly prayer, lots of prayer.  It
feels like St Jude time to me!
The government action plan is located at http://www.acdi-cida.gc.ca/cida and you go to the
section on Women's Health.  You will see that the information there is the same as what the
MaterCare organization states but the emphasis there is on reproductive health.  Worth
reading.
Thank you and God bless to all!

Theresa;

I have just got an email response from the Vatican that EWTN (Mother angelica's network)
carried a programme about us. I am attachng the email letter. Interestingly Archbishop Turkson
is already paying the expenses of one student to medical school.

Dear Dr. Walley,

Through EWTN News, I came to know about the difficulties faced by
Matercare International (MCI) due to the hostility of some pro- abortion
NGOs, as you endeavour to offer essential obstetrical care to the
expectant mothers especially in Africa. I am sorry about this and I would
like to express my solidarity with you and your team. It is indeed
regrettable to see international organisation placing the promotion of
abortion before the care of poor women.

Very soon the second International workshop of Catholic
obstetricians and gynaecologists will be held in Rome. One of the primary
goals of the meeting is to identify ways, through which MCI can remain in
action in the face of such strong international opposition. May be one of
the ways is to train some African gynaecologists who like MCI will work for
the respect and promotion of human life according to the teaching of
Humanae Vitae. For example identifying two places in Africa where this
could be done. This could be done in one or two Catholic Universities in
Africa as a project of MCI. I personally would be glad to discuss this idea
with you and also contribute some proposals and suggestions. Unfortunately,
the pro-abortion NGOs are already implementing an aggressive programme
spreading their wrong ideas. And if we are not careful, it will later on be
difficult to undo the harm they will have done. We need to act now for the
good of the poor mothers, and in service to human life and dignity.

With best regards
